    Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

    August 29, 2014

As we say goodbye to summer this weekend, we are filled with excitement for the fall season ahead. Autumn is the perfect time to start to plan your projects for next summer, and we love this time of year because we get to do some of our most extensive design work. We recommend designing your entire project, even if you plan to implement the design in phases.  This doesn’t mean you cannot change the design as you move along, it just means you will have a clear path to follow as you move through the construction process. If 2015 is the year you would like to install a pool or other outdoor living space at your home, now is a great time to give us a call to start discussing. Our architect, Randall, and designers are available to provide complete design consultation.

In keeping with our pool theme for the week, here are some pointers from us on pool design.

    1. Use materials that are natural to the setting of the pool. This will make your pool feel like it belongs in your yard.  If there are non-local elements that you love, consider using them as an accent.

    2. Combine materials, but don’t go overboard. We love natural stone when combined with beautiful wood structures, but be careful about introducing too many elements. If the space is too busy, it will not feel relaxing to your family or your guests.

    3. Be realistic about materials and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Just because a particular stone is beautiful, does not mean that it will not be slippery, or get too hot to walk on. Durable materials will always stand up better to weather and use.

    4. Plan ahead. Breaking ground in late winter will ensure that you are relaxing in your new space next summer.
